It is hard to put all that Nicola did for us leading up to & on our wedding day into words. As a perfectionist and anxiety-driven person, it is hard to hand over & entrust someone with what has been one of the most important days of Henri and my life. With lovely Nicola, this was always easy. Her attention to every detail (even the unthinkable little ones), enthusiasm, & love she put into our day made planning our wedding such a fun & exciting journey.
She always put me at ease, informing & advising me on every aspect of our day, while still keeping it in line with our vision. Flip, there were times when she took on the role of a shrink. She went above & beyond for us & nothing was ever off the table or too much to ask.
On the day, she was as excited for us, as if it had been her own day that she was looking forward to. She supported me gently & calmly, all whilst running with every aspect of setting up the day. Everything was absolutely PERFECT & I was calmer than what everyone warned me I wouldn’t be on my wedding day.
One of the things that stood out to me, which I’ve heard very few brides experience, is that I enjoyed my wedding as if I was a guest at my own wedding… this is all thanks to Nicola! She was there from two days before, till the morning after (3.30am…..) & then back at 9am on the Sunday – with a smile & as much excitement as I when talking about the magic of the previous day!
Quite simply, Nicola took the vision I had in my mind, which I didn’t have the words to describe, & turned it into the most unimaginable magical day for us as newlyweds & all who attended.

After a few weeks of soaking up married life, we can now reflect on what was a magnificent, special wedding day. A day which would not have been possible without Nicola, our powerhouse planner from Kiona Events. A day which would still be wishful images on a Pinterest board.
When we first thought of planning our wedding, we knew we wanted in back home in SA, so we quickly realised we could not do it on our own and boy am I glad we didn’t. Having known Nicola from High School and when Johan and I first started dating, we knew she would just ‘get us’. Nicola was quick to adapt to our time zone for meetings and provided so much guidance from afar.
We initially had a very simple vision for our wedding which, as the process went on, turned into something way more spectacular than we could have ever wished for, all with Nicola’s guidance and from her asking us the right questions.
Nicola encouraged us to add thoughtfulness to every aspect, made sure we were 100% sure on every detail, never settling for anything other than our vision of perfection.
On the day and during the whole planning process, Nicola was calm, enthusiastic and organised. We knew we could trust her wholeheartedly. She thought of every little detail, which meant we didn’t have to. She handled everything for us, even when the weather didn’t play along, she made executive decisions and guided all the support staff at the venue, and simply kept us informed of all the changes. This meant we could be as close to ‘relaxed’ on the day as possible.

Getting married is filled with excitement, anticipation and eagerness. With Nicola, those feelings were always strong and never stifled by admin or stress – working with Kiona Events was (without any exaggeration) perfect. Nicola was always one step ahead of us, which meant that we could guard the creativity of planning and not get bogged down in anything admin-related. She truly made sure that our entire experience was fun! The cherry on top was that Nicola became a great friend across the journey of our planning.

She is kind, caring, attentive but most of all experienced and exceptionally professional. She understood me as client knew how many options to send and which service providers I would like. Leading up to the event she used her initiative and instinct when directing enquiries and did not inundate me with questions and options.
